Wow, can you believe it’s already October? There’s something about the chill in the air and the beautiful fall colors that make me want to snuggle under a blanket with a cup of tea and draw.
And I suppose that’s where my sketch-a-day self challenge all started. Last week I picked up a cute sketch book small enough to stuff in my bag on sale at Michael’s. I find myself doodling more and more in the cuddly fall weather. I especially love to doodle quotes and lettering and so I thought, why not challenge myself to create a new sketch every day? After a while, my lettering should get much better AND I’ll have a book full of sketches that I can maybe do something with, right?
So the challenge is on. I’ve already got more than enough inspiration on my Pintrest boards to keep me busy for… oh, I don’t know, YEARS?! Now my morning routine consists of coffee (always coffee first), emails, and sketching- and it’s wonderful! Here’s what I’ve done so far:
One really awesome side effect of this challenge is that I can take some of my favorite sketches and turn them in to something cool for the Etsy shop using digital editing, like this:
Cool right?! I’m having a lot of fun with this, and TBH, making myself do something creative first thing in the morning really sets the mood for a great, productive day. It’s nice, and almost meditative, to have a creative outlet every morning.
If you want to follow along and see each of my daily sketches, I’ll be posting them on my Instagram account. Do you want to join me with this daily challenge? Please do! Tag me on instagram @paintspiration_art so I can see what you come up with! And as always, let me know what you think 🙂
